For Women Only

I'm going to get into trouble real fast for the post but I'm going to hound and hound until I get under some skin!

So I want opinions....how long has it been since you've been to the female dr?

I'm faithful....every year....I go. Not becuase I like to go but because I know as a women it's just what you do. Now I have a friend that points out that I have to go in order to get my refill but I would go regardless b/c I don't want to be one of those women that stops going after I have kids and then ends of with cancer that's to far advanced b/c I didn't get checked annually.

So I have some friends that haven't been in several years...I have offered to keep their kids so they go...twice and they really have no excuse but they just ignore me.

So mean ole me has told them that when I'm driving them to chemo I'm going to tell them I TOLD YOU SO!!!! I know that's harsh but I love my friends too much!

Come on girls help me out on this!

Seriously. You just went there, didn't you?! Oh my.

Okay...so I'm going to break down and go. But only because I heart you so much.

And I'll let you keep my kids.

And then you can buy my a Pineapple Diet Dr. Pepper because I'll feel so violated.

HA! Just let me tell you, you never know when cervical issues will rear their ugly heads. I'd been married 2 months when I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical dysplasia, which is one toenail away from developing in to cervical cancer. HVP free, both of us, but I used to get cold sores and hand/foot warts easily. If I had put it off just a year or so, who knows what would have happened to me. So, ALWAYS get your pap smeared, even when you're an old lady on estrogen patches, because you never know when your body will turn against you!

Ummm...yeah. Had cancer as a child and 15 months of agonizing chemo treatments...been there done that, don't ever want to do it again. I'll get checked up simply because I don't ever want to have cancer again...Especially as an adult with a family. Those who don't get checked out either don't realize the danger in not being routine about checkups, or just don't care about devestating their families when they are diagnosed with cancer.

Amen! I go every year even w/out needing a prescription. Watched my grandmother and an aunt got through cancer/chemo...I just don't want to take any chances.

Oops...I just realized that Amber might have been the one you were talking about. Maybe I should read the comments before I post, huh?

Sorry Amber...having had cancer as a kid and having longterm effects from the chemo as an adult now, I have become hardcore about people who don't get check ups. I had no reason for getting cancer...just a bad cell gone bad. My husband was one of those, and I begged and begged him for a year to go get a checkup from the doctor. He finally went, and was perfectly healthy...but it's just become a real soft spot, I guess. Hope I didn't offend you!!! Just go get checked out!! :-)

Well, since I haven't been since Caitlin was 2-ish, I guess I can't help you make your case.

Glad to know you're willing to drive me to chemo.

Ladies, go hop in some stirrups and just get it done! It takes less time to get one done than to get a drink at Sonic! I'll recommend my old Arkansas doc, Dr. Ulmer, if anyone needs someone fab!

Okay, needed this today. I'm making an appointment when I get back to my country:) Just found your blog, and I guess I needed this reminder. Thanks for being bold enough to shout in our faces. Our families will thank you.

Hugs from this missionary mommy,
Sarah Dawn

I go every year without fail. Given that I have no female problems, I have my family Doc at AMC do mine. Well worth the brief time and peace of mind.

Seems like the ones who protest the most are my friends who are in the medical profession.

I go every year too! And yes, the Nike outfit came from Shelly. I can't see the boys in it either. Isn't that funny!

I must be the only whacko who likes to go...well, in my defense, she is the only doc I have gone to in about 20 years so she gives me a full "work-up" (all the annual bloodwork, etc) because she knows I have white coat phobia and won't step foot in another doctors office unless I am dragged in. So I just look forward to getting another yearly visit overwith and not worry about it for the next 364 days. :)

great reminder for everyone!
