Phones...Home, Cell or Both

We both have cell phones and we have our home phone. We have had the same number since I was in college. We've tossed around the idea several times about going all cellular and getting rid of the home phone line.

I know it would save us around $30 a month and that there should tell us what to do. It's not like we live in a big town where people wouldn't be able to figure out how to get a hold of us...this is small town Arkansas where pretty much everyone knows everyone.

Give me some input...what do you guys do?

We've been "cell phone only" for over a year now. I have not missed the land line at all. Like you said, the people who really need to get a hold of me will figure out a way.

We still have both. We toss around the idea of getting rid of our land line, but our cell phone service stinks out here most of the time, and we have a package deal with our satellite/land line. But noone calls us on our land line...except telemarketers. So we don't ever answer it!!! :)

We're completely cellular too, and I LOVE it. Absolutely NO regrets. We did bump up our minutes and went with unlimited texting--that was wise. But we're still saving about $50/month. Our old home phone plan had lots of extras we were paying for but not necessarily using.

I do have a cell phone for emergencies. I pay $25 every 4 months and then we got Ooma. Check it out at Best Buy or their website. I paid $200 and never have to pay for phone again. It paid for itself in 5 months. You have to have it connected through your internet though. But it doesn't effect being online or anything. We love it.

Well, I think you already know that we got rid of our land line at least 2 or 3 years ago. I don't regret it at all either. The only thing I have a problem with is trying to keep track of where I put the darn thing.LOL I have been so absent minded lately, that I will lay it down somewhere in the house and then forget where I last put it. As far as texting, Scottie doesn't think it's needed. I want texting so bad too.....everybody has it! He just doesn't get it...as usual.LOL

We are cell phone only and have been for about 5 years. All our family members are on the same cell service and we have tons of minutes, so our phone bill is the same every month!! We got a land line so we could get dial up internet but the internet was slow and everyone still called our cell phones so we turned it off!!

I carry a cell phone for emergencies only. It's prepaid and costs me about $100 a year. We have a land line that costs about $25 a month. For the number of times we need a cell phone, this system works for us.
